This is my tribute to The Oatmeal’s Matthew Inman who has been threatened with legal action by a website which has used his original material to make money on their website and didn’t take too kindly to him pointing it out. So he raised a shit-tonne of money for charity, just to spite them.
It’s crap that there are websites out there that simply rip-off the creative efforts of artists like The Oatmeal and sell advertising to make buckets of cash. You, as a lovely consumer of web comics and such things should not visit these sites. Instead seek out the websites of artists, many of whom make a living from their art and the advertising on their sites.
Personally my only reason for making my little drawings is the positive feedback I receive. That’s payment enough. But I’d be well proper miffed if some scum bucket put my work on their site without any credit going to me. The great thing about the internet is the sharing of creativity, but that doesn’t meant stealing others’ creativitity, you imaginationless lump of that scum that needs to be cleaned from within the grooves of the seal which goes around the door of the fridge.
Edit: I had written this caption more articulately but then it disappeared and I’ve had to rewrite it. Ugh.
